Memorium - Genji

Our beloved cat, Genji, died this afternoon of pancretitus. He was 3 years, 4 months old. He was a lynx, seal point Birman with gorgeous blue eyes and long, long fur. He loved to stay close to us even when sleeping and would go from room to room to keep us with our activities.

As a kitten he found a piece of swimming suit fabric that had a snake skin pattern in metallic blue and black. He would regularly attack the "snake" and kill it, so as to protect us, maybe? The snake would appear at different parts of the house, and never ceased to startle me just a bit.

His preferred position for sleeping was with his belly up, exposed to the air. I called it his "mommy trap" because I could not resist stroking it any time I passed by.

We will miss him greatly as he added a great deal of love, joy and even laughter to our lives.

  1. It is so sad that you have lost Genji - so young. It is always sad, but at least when they have lived their allotted span you feel that you have shared the best of their lives.

  2. Nancy, my heart hurts for you in the loss of your precious Genji. He was so beautiful and I know you loved him. My companion, Bigboy is lying beside my keyboard right now, waiting for me to get through. I will give him some extra loving in Genji's honor.

  3. So sorry, Nancy! We lost our beloved Mandy a year ago and my heart still breaks every day thinking of her. You have the memories, as we do, of the time with our pets...that does keep a smile on on lips from time to time doesn't it!
