This little weed I found in my herb pots has a bright yellow flower and three part leaves and a really interesting seed pod. The pod is very angular even the stems that hold the pods go off on their own direction.
If memory serves me correctly, it is a form of oxalis. The little pods taste like pickles.I remember eating them in childhood.

yes yes.. I do and it does not seem to grow here in Georgia. I'm sure it's considered a weed because it's a low growing ground cover that gets into shady places of lawns. The leaves are quarter to half dollar sized, round with scalloped edges and it has a pleasant, pungent smell when walked on. Our yard was full of it and the smell always reminds me of my wedding. I stood barefooted on these friendly weeds.

Deb, I have seen that weed as well. Don't recall its name or where. Anyone recognize Bev's description?
ReplyDeleteBev, I love the lilacs. We cannot grow the wonderful fragrant variety that I had in Iowa. What an awful thing to be allergic to. My condolences to your husband.

Some people call 'Jolly Jump-ups' weeds -- or perhaps, 'pansy wanna-bes', but they are a favourite of mine, along with yarrow which I love for its long-lasting persona whether fresh or dried.

Yes, love the Johnny Jump Ups. They are delightful.
